Meet Federica
I’m Federica, founder and designer of Luè Kids.
I’m Italian, based in Berlin, an engineer by training and a mother of two. Luè Kids began from observing my own children and the worlds they created when they were simply given the time and freedom to play.
Through their childhood — and their experience of Waldorf education — I became increasingly interested in the value of open-ended play, movement and a close relationship with nature. I wanted to create objects that could become part of that world without defining it for them.
That idea became Luè Kids.
Nature is often my starting point. I look closely at its forms, colours and details, then translate them into textile pieces children can wear, move with and transform through their imagination. The butterfly wings, for example, began with the desire to reproduce the beauty of real butterflies while leaving everything else to the child.
I design each piece in Berlin and work with makers in Italy to bring it to life, choosing materials and processes with care and creating objects I hope can stay with a family for years.
Children know how to play. My role is simply to give their imagination something beautiful to begin with.
